What are the most popular New Year resolutions every January?
1. Spend more time with family and friends.
2. Exercise more.
3. Lose weight.
4. Stop smoking.
5. Enjoying life more.
6. Stop drinking.
7. Get out of debt.
8. Learn something new.
9. Help others.
10. Get organised.
The falloff rate is remarkable;

22% fail after one week.

40% fail after one month.

50% fail after three months.

60% fail after six months.

For those who do succeed about 40% succeed at the first attempt, up to 17% take over six attempts.
The number reasons for failed resolutions is a lack of a clear goal, a detailed plan with a specific completion date.
Some goals should be spread over a longer period e.g. join a local charity and volunteer, plan one family event per month, do a night course.
Smaller daily changes can lead to nice savings; e.g. one coffee less per day can save up to €1,200.00 per year, a coffee and scone would save up to €1,500.00 per year.

Make a decision not to eat after 8pm.
Get up one hour earlier per day.
Small changes over a longer period of time that daily habits can lead to a new life style.
Goals that require significant changes in habitual behaviour e.g. stop smoking, may require some help.
One of the secrets to changing behaviour is to take on goals that are achievable see them through and then repeat the process instead of taking on too many goals and not achieving any.
